Team Spotlight
Captain Dan Sullivan is the new team captain for GSA Team Fieldstone Environmental Club.
Daniel Sullivan is a farmer, teacher, and consultant who has been active in the fields of environmental education and sustainable living for four decades. A 1971 graduate of Manhattan College (BA English), and a 1984 advanced degree recipient from St. John’s University (MS Educational Administration), Sullivan went into teaching and quickly discovered the flood of environmental writing that followed the first Earth Day in 1970. His interest and involvement in the area has only grown in the years since. Sulllivan is currently designing and teaching courses in environmental awareness and education from the secondary through graduate levels. He is now serving as Sustainability Coordinator for the North Rockland Central School District in southeastern New York.
In addition to his educational activities, Sullivan is an active member of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York and the New York State Agricultural Working Group. His most recent activity includes partnering with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and completing training as a Transition Town leader. Working in cooperation with Keep Rockland Beautiful, Sullivan has created and hosted the Annual School-to-School Symposium on Environmental Education, now in its second year. He currently resides with his wife Teresa on their 70 acre organic farm in Richfield Springs, NY, with frequent visits to and from his four sons.
